Acidulation/digestion of phosphate rock

Wet-process attack of prepared phosphate rock with sulfuric acid and water producing phosphoric acid and calcium sulfate (phosphogypsum) and associated fluoride species (e.g., HF) as described for wet-process phosphoric acid production (Rutherford et al. 1994; Belboom et al. 2015). Central Prayon (di-hemihydrate) is the selected configuration.
